Zel blinked and took the picture. For a moment, he seemed confused as to what to do with it. But then, with that famous skeleton grin again, he folded it up carefully and tucked it away in his hair. "Thank you!" he trilled, remembering the manners Mrs. Claus taught him.
He stayed behind Caiden for a while longer, snapping playfully at Caiden's hair. He moved his wing and covered Caiden's face, giggling somewhat. "You have nice drawing skills. Did someone teach you?"

Caiden smiled up at Zel, happy. The kid liked his drawing. And Zel seemed to like him too, maybe he'd found another friend? Possibly a best friend later? It would be nice to have a friend, he thought, and he went back to sketching absently in his notebook, animals this time.
Hearing the compliment, he opened his mouth to say "Thank you," automatically, but he had just gotten done with the phrase when Zel's question registered in his mind. Caiden flinched, shifting just a little bit away from Zel. "Y-yeah, a while back..." A long while back, when they'd still been friends. It was amazing that Caiden could still get himself to draw after what had happened.

Zel tipped his head to the side but didn't question. "Fun! I've never been a good drawer, but Sally says I have a talent for singing."
The changeling sighed, curling up around Caiden. He could sense the older boy's sorrow and naturally he tried to make it better.

Caiden smiled again, trying to reassure Zel and himself, but it was a lot emptier and more fake than before. But he didn't pull away when Zel got close again, trying to accept the comfort and move away from his thoughts. He'd been so stupid, messed up that friendship, and now there was no way he'd ever make that mistake again.
So, he tried to distract himself, moving the conversation into a different direction. "It takes a lot of practice, although others can teach you some tips that help." His smile grew a little more real, and curious. "You can sing? Cool. Heh, I kinda wish I could sing, but I can't very well." Feeling a little more shy, he said "If you want, I'd kinda like to listen to you sing sometime..." Then he blushed, but just a little bit.

Zel grinned that skeleton grin and responded positively. "Sure! A talent for a talent sort of thing, since you gave me the picture.. which, I have to say, is very well-done."
"But now, a nap." Aaaaannnd he fell asleep right there, curled up on Caiden's shoulders.

"Okay." Heh, did that mean that if Caiden gave him more pictures, Zel would sing more? He thought about it, and decided that it made since. When Zel said he was gonna nap, Caiden chuckled and went back to his art. "All right."
He didn't expect for Zel to fall asleep on him. Caiden didn't really mind though. Zel was light enough, and they were positioned so that Caiden wouldn't get any back or neck pain from it. Though, he did hear Caila giggling in the next room...
Later, after dinner, Caiden left another drawing under the door into Ally's room (where he guessed Zel was staying now). It was a picture of the two of them, Zel curled up on Caiden's shoulder napping and Caiden sketching quietly. He'd signed it in the corner.
