My name is Zelith Fenton. No one except my teachers call me Zelith, though. To everyone else, it's either Zelly or Fenton. Some people call me Zel, but it's not many people and definitely not my best friends. My best friends are named Caide and Kai. They know how much I absolutely hate being called Zel. It just makes me really angry for some reason. Just a month ago, my parents, Nika and Jack Fenton, built this really weird portal. They said it was the "Ghost-Portal" and that it would lead to this place called the "Ghost-Zone". When it didn't work, they just quit. But Caide (no, she is not my girlfriend) convinced me to go inside and check it out. There was an accident, and now I've got these really cool (but troublesome) ghost powers!
(He's a phantom.)
(Zelly Phantom, Zelly Phantom.)
Yo Zelly Fenton he was just fourteen
When his parents built a very strange machine
It was designed to view a world unseen
(He's gonna catch em all
Cause he's Zelly Phantom.)
When it didn't quite work
His folks they just quit
But Zelly took a look inside of it
There was a great big flash everything just changed
His molecules got all
Re-arranged!
(Phantom, Phantom.)
When he first woke up he realized
He had snow white hair
And glowing green eyes
He could walk through walls disappear and fly!
He was much more unique than the other guy!
It was then that he knew what he had to do
he had to stop all the ghosts that were coming through
He's here to fight
For me and you!
(He's gonna catch em all
Cause he's Zelly Phantom
Gonna catch em all
Cause he's Zelly Phantom
Gonna catch em all cause he's
Zelly Phantom.)
Sometimes Zelly hated his new powers. He could barely control them, and he wasn't sure how long he could hide them from his parents. His sister, Shrike, was easier to fool. She was so overprotective that if his parents accused him of being a ghost (which was only half true, he was only half ghost!), she'd take his side immediately. He sat at the table, eating cereal like he did every morning. just yesterday, he'd spent a lot of energy in fighting off ghosts while his father talked about killing ghosts. His best friends, Caide and Kai, were probably traumatized, yeah, but hey, no one died.
Just as he went to eat another bite, his hand turned intangible, causing the spoon to drop out right from his hand. He panicked when he saw it and hid his hand behind his back, hoping that his parents wouldn't notice. Luckily, his mother was building some machine. A machine to detect ghosts. Oh great. He hoped it didn't work on half-ghosts too.
"Two more days, and it's done!" his mom declared. His dad popped out from behind her and snatched it up.
"It's done, you say? The Fenton Finder is done! It uses satellites to lead you right to the ghosts," his father grinned.
"It... uses what to... track what?" Zelly panicked more.
"Welcome to the Fenton Finder," a recorded voice said out loud. "A ghost is near. Please move forwards."
Shrike watched as Zelly backed up and his parents closed in on him.
"What? Well, that can't be right," his father muttered. Just then, Zelly turned invisible and he panicked more, turning back to normal before his parents looked at him.
"Well, actually, there's... something I need to tell you guys..."
Shrike immediately took his side, like he'd suspected. "That's not all you need, Zelly. You need guidance, and parents who can provide it!"
"Now, sweetie, I know what we do doesn't make sense sometimes," his mother warned Shrike. "But you're only-"
"16. Biologically!" Zelly began to back away from his sister. "But psychologically, I'm an adult, and I refuse to allow to corrupt the mind of this impressionable little child!" Shrike held Zelly close. "Come, you poor, unwanted wretch. I'll drive you to school." She fixed a glare on their parents and dragged poor Zelly away. Before they left, Zelly heard his mother say to his father, "That's strange. Shrike never offers to drive Zelly to school."
At school, Zelly met up with his friends while going to one of their classes.
"I think I should tell them," Zelly told the two as they went to their class. "I don't know why I have my powers! It's been a month since the accident! If anyone catches me using my powers, I go from geek to freak around here!" Without noticing, Zelly had started to sink into the ground.
"Kinda like what you're doing now?" Kai asked, and pointed to the ground. Like always, Zelly panicked. And, like always, he relied on his friends to help him out. Once he was out of the ground, Zelly growled.
"Darn it! If my dad can make something that accidentally turns me half ghost, why can't he invent something that turns me back to normal?" Dejected, Zelly walked away from his friends, turning invisible and intangible at the same time and walking straight through a vending machine. On the other side, he was stopped by Caide. Hopefully she'd have some kind of comfort or reassurance to give him.
