Welcome to the site! We are Into The Light, a roleplay forum loosely based on Legend of Zelda.
This is more of an archive these days. Thank you for all of the adventures we had, and good luck as you move on to your next ones!
The site is going through some big changes right now, so expect to see some different stuff soon! You may notice that some of the threads are missing. If they're roleplay threads, you can find them in the Archive, and feel free to continue them. If they're character applications, they'll be in the Character Applications board. When we're doen with the update, just change them to fit the new site/app (not too different) and we'll be happy to accept them again.
Caiden was about to drift off to sleep when his phone buzzed in his hand. He almost dropped it, but opened his eyes to see the words. A small smile appeared on his face. Good, he had the right number, and it seemed like Zel did want to see him again... Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he typed back Whenever you want. I'm not busy : ) -Caiden
Sighing quietly, he shifted to sit up in bed, a little more awake. Maybe Zel would reply soon. The next day was a Saturday; maybe they could meet up then. Well technically it was already Saturday since it was after 3am...

Look out your window. I, uh, got a little excited at your text. I was seriously just eating cake in my room when you texted me. -Zel
Zel quietly sat out on the windowsill, a poker face covering his expression. He was, at least, not staring at Caiden. Instead, his gaze was off towards the forest. He glanced over to Caiden, suddenly noticing that he was actually in bed. Oh. Well, no turning back now. He can't just disappoint Caiden, can he? New friends are the easiest to lose.
He sent another quick text. If you want, I still have some sugary stuff with me. Cinnamon rolls in little bags. I never go anywhere without something from my house, which also happens to be the upstairs room of the bakery. -Zel

Caiden stared at his phone when he received the next text. No... Was Zel outside his window? Completely not expecting that, he looked out his window, and had to choke back a high pitched scream when he saw Zel sitting on his windowsill. He stared at Zel for a few moments, then glanced down at his phone when it buzzed again.
Since Zel is right there, he doesn't bother to reply. Caiden just opened the window and smiled at Zel. "How can I pass up cinnamon rolls? Come on in if you'd like. We'll have to be quiet though; my sister is sleeping in the next room and she is scary when she gets woken up."
He was a little amazed that Zel was excited at wanting to see him. They'd only just met. Maybe his new friend couldn't sleep either?

Zel smiled and entered the room on silent feet. "Oh, don't worry, I know. Kai's told me horror stories that still keep me up at night." He pulled a warm cinnamon roll bag from his hoodie pocket, holding it out to Caiden. "Made by yours truly," he said with a little grin.
Once Caiden took it, he took out another one and begins to quickly eat it. "Well, at least we don't have school for the next few days," Zel said with a little grin. "I'll be up until 4 AM Monday morning playing World of Warcraft after I have to go home, aka when Mrs. Cake realizes I'm not actually in my room."
Being the gamer he was, he knew how to game without people knowing. In fact, without realizing it, he had taken his phone out of pocket and, without even looking at the screen, was playing Flappy Bird. His high score was 325, and he didn't normally even look at the screen when playing because who in their right mind actually played Flappy Bird?

Caiden chuckled. "I was there for some of them. Well, just listening through my wall. It was scary enough to keep me in my room. Oh, thank you!" Brown eyes lighting up, he pulled out a cinnamon roll and bit into it, smiling wider at the taste. "You made these? Wow, they're wonderful. Thank you."
He nodded at Zel's comment about having no school, and it was a good thing that he swallowed his bite before Zel spoke again or he would have choked in his laughter. "You snuck out? Wow. How did you manage it?"
He noticed that Zel was playing Flappy Bird a minute later with one hand and no eyes, and his eyes widened in awe. Wow. "How are you doing that?" he asked quietly, quite amazed.

"My window. I go roof-running a lot." At Caiden's next question, Zel looked confused. "Huh?" Then he noticed what he was doing. "Uh, I don't know. Apparently I do this a lot." Zel grinned a little. "Oh, new highscore of 340... And I died. Oh well." He put his phone in his pocket again, and he actually looked a little sheepish. "Sorry. I game a lot, and it crosses over into life."
Zel notices Caiden's bow and arrows, and he looks really amazed. "Oh wow, you can shoot a bow? I can't shoot to save my life." It was true. He once had a bow and a knife on him. He had 10 arrows. All 10 were wasted trying to hit a still target. He missed. Every single time. Of course, once the perosn actually came at him, he pulled out his knife and kicked some butt.

"Wow." he breathed, staring at Zel. Then he realized that he was staring and blinked, looking a little sheepish. "Oh, you're fine."
When Zel pointed out his bow and arrows on the shelf, he blushed, but the smile grew on his face. "Yes, I can. I've been teaching myself since I was really young and I'm fairly good now." Actually he hit the bulls-eye almost every time but he wouldn't admit that to Zel. It would have sounded like he was bragging and full of himself. "I could teach you if you really wanted to learn. I've never tried to teach before, but I might be able to." He gave Zel a shy smile, wondering if the boy would take him up on his offer. It would definitely mean they'd see each other more.

Zel grinned. "I've tried, and I don't think it'd make much of a difference in my skills now to start training. I'm better with a knife and swords anyway, though. Huh, you know what, maybe we should see just how well our skills complement each other. I have a set of training dummies out in the forest. With my melee skills and your long-ranged skills, we'd probably be the best duo on Earth."
He peered up at Caiden with big eyes. "Don't you think so?"

Caiden shrugs. "You never know. Maybe you just need the right teacher." He smiles shyly at the suggestion that they'd be a good fighting duo. "Maybe you're right. We should try it sometime." That would be fun, fighting with Zel. Well, not with Zel as in against him. Cooperating with him would be fun though. "I'm best at my bow, and not really good at knives and swords or anything..."

"Swords are my strong point." Zel flashes a big smile and hugs Caiden. "But it is getting late and I think I woke you up right before you fell asleep." Zel receives a text and he checks it quickly. "Yup, see, Mrs. Cake texted me. She knows where I am and that I'm definitely not in bed." Zel grins. "See you tomorrow! I'll be waiting by the forest, okay?"
Without waiting for an answer, Zel goes back out the window and is gone, though his silver hair can be seen at certain angles. When he gets into his room, he pretends that Mrs. Cake woke him up when she barges in. He manages to convince her and when she's gone he gets up and plays World of Warcraft until 4 AM.
He somehow wakes up at 8 AM and leaves for the forest, giving Mrs. Cake a hug before he leaves. When he gets there, he somehow trips over a speck of dust and nearly falls. But he catches himself on a tree and swings himself up. "Huh, I wonder if I should have given Caiden a time or a certain part of the fores tto meet me by..."

The hug makes him blush, but he hesitantly returns it, his smile growing. "It's okay, I didn't mind staying up a little later," he replies. "Oh." He wishes Zel didn't have to leave, but is happy that Zel will apparently be by the forest tomorrow and wants him to meet him there.
It's only when he wakes up the next morning that he wonders where and when Zel meant to meet him. So he packs lunch for both of them and heads out just after breakfast, carrying his bow. His quiver is slung over his shoulder, stocked full of arrows.
When he reaches the forest, he quickly feels more at home. It really is nice there. He always feels kind of peaceful when he's in the forest, far more than he does at home. So he just walks, keeping an eye and an ear out for Zel but enjoying himself anyway.

Zel's fallen asleep, but it's a good thing he snores when he sleeps on his stomach. He only wakes up when he starts to roll over and instead falls out of the tree.
"I'm awake and the answer is Germany!" Zel looks around and then rubs his head. "I really shouldn't have stayed up until 4 playing WoW..." The silverette sighs. "Oh well. It's my fault I guess." Zel drags himself to his feet, wincing when he notices his already-injured knee is scraped and bleeding. "Yeah, that's not fun..."
SO Zel dabs a cotton ball on that, and the scrape stops bleeding and scabs over pretty soon. Getting hit by a car really wasn't his smartest idea last year.

Caiden hears a voice from somewhere off to his left and changes the direction he's walking. It sounded like Zel, but it was so faint. After a couple minutes, he sees the silveret and smiles. "Hi Zel." Then his expression turns to worry when he sees Zel's scabbed knee. "Are you okay?"

"I'm okay," Zel reassures his friend, regretting that his shorts don't cover his knees. "I fell out of a tree. No big deal." Zel grabs Caiden's hand, completely ignoring the concept of personal space, and he starts to lead Caiden towards his training area. "Be warned, we might get jumped. But if we do, just try not to watch what I'm doing and you'll be okay. Also, don't mind if you get a little covered in blood."

That reassures Caiden somewhat. "Okay." He completely doesn't mind Zel holding his hand, but that does make his face turn somewhat pink. He does wonder why they would get jumped though. He hasn't before here, but maybe this is a new part of the forest they're going to? A more dangerous part. "Um, Zel? I don't fight people..." he says quietly, "Not to really hurt them anyway..."
