"I only fight people when I have to." Zel shrugs and keeps walking. They don't get jumped and they emerge into a clearing that had a lot of training dummies set up. Some of them are slashed and one of them doesn't have a head. "Yeah, I haven't been here in a while. I didn't get around to repairing the dummies yet... Sorry." Zel gives Caiden a smile though, because most of them aren't harmed. Yet.

Caiden nods and keeps walking. However, he smiles when he sees the dummies. A perfect place to train. "It's fine, we'll probably just mess them up even more. How should we start?" Usually he stood as far back as he felt comfortable and shot at trees, or moved around and tried to hit a branch or a falling leaf. Sometimes he hid in trees and shot from there. He'd never been able to bring himself to go after animals when he was practicing though. Why kill animals unless you plan to eat them later?

Zel unsheathes the sword at his hip, a long curved blade that looks to have been cleaned earlier. "We start by pretending that they're enemy warriors, and we try to wound them. Not kill them, killing is only if you have to. This isn't war yet, silly." Zel winks cheekily and then emits a battle screech, running forward and slashing at one of the targets. At the same time, he pulls out a remote and presses a button, turning the robot dummies on and causing them to move.
"Machinery at its finest!" Zel calls, flashing a grin at Caiden before having to dodge out to the way of one of the robots. He's pretty good at backflips.

Caiden nods, blushing a little at the wink. He really hopes Zel didn't notice that. It's thrown off his concentration, and he doesn't notice when the robots start to move until one starts to attack him. Darting away, he hides behind a tree, just missing a dull arrow that almost brushes his face. They can shoot? Oh no. He nocks an arrow to the string, takes a breath, then ducks out from behind a tree. The arrow flies, and his aim turns out to be pretty good, going right through a robot's head where its brain would be. It whirrs to a stop. Good, that was one sword bearing robot down. Now where's the...
He ducks as another arrow almost nails him, and hides behind a tree again. Listening as he readies another arrow, he hears a robot, maybe two, moving towards him. Leaves crunch a few feet away, and he backs up, firing. It hits one, and it stops too, but the other one swings at him. So Caiden does the only thing he can think of and kicks it away from him. The robot falls backward and slowly gets to its feet, but by then he's taken it out with another arrow.
Whew, he thinks, this is awesome. He's never practiced like this before, and though it's a little frightening, he's having fun. Looking around for more enemies, he doesn't notice a robot creeping up behind him, sword raised...

Zel, however, does indeed notice. His eyes widen and he quickly decapitates the robot he was fighting, darting for Caiden. He jumped over the other boy's shoulder and rammed into the robot with his sword going through its chest. He tumbles to the ground and pants, getting up and staggering. He really shouldn't have done that, now he's disorientated. Vertigo sucks, for anyone wondering. Zel takes out the remote and stops the robots with the push of another button.
"You okay?" Zel wheezes, trying to catch his breath.

Caiden's eyes widen when he sees Zel suddenly sprint toward him, and he ducks, hoping the younger kid isn't coming after him instead of the robots. But instead Zel jumps over him, and Caiden turns his head to see Zel's sword go through a robot that had been sneaking up on him. It had been close, too, close enough to have hurt Caiden badly or maybe killed him. He shivered, glad that Zel had seen it.
Speaking of Zel, he quickly hurries over to his rescuer, grabbing Zel's shoulder to steady him. "I'm fine," he says, worry clear in his voice. "Thanks to you, I'm just fine. Are you okay? M-my sis knows some stuff, if you think you might be hurt or something."

Zel coughed, smiling weakly. "I'm fine. ...Though maybe I shouldn't have rammed the thing so hard..." Zel shook his head and smiled gently. "Hey, I'm gonna spend some more time out here. Try not stray too far from here, though, okay? If you do I won't be able to find you again." And with that, Zel was gone.
He swung from branch to branch, eyes narrowed against the wind he was creating against his own face. He jumped off and spun in the air, sword pointed towards the ground. And that was how Zel caught and killed a squirrel.
